In some cases, we are hired by relatives that suspect that a loved one left assets behind, but have no paper trail to follow.
In other cases, we are consulted upon by legal and accounting firms.
However, most often, we scour international databases and identify assets that are suspected of being abandoned. We then proceed to trace the beneficiaries of the estate. We do this because our driving force is a bit of a "Robin Hood" affliction! We fervently believe in finding lost fortunes (big and small) and make a difference in people's lives! We consider lost assets as counterproductive: Money that is working for you, also works for the society surrounding you and the governing bodies via the taxes that are collected every time this money is used to buy a good or service. Other than having money in circulation providing direct benefit to yourself, having money change hands also provides job security and hence reduces crimes and increases the general welfare of your immediate community! We also believe that the availability of funds stimulates innovation and entrepreneurship, thus again benefitting the micro and macro communities in which we participate.
The sky is the limit. However, the minimum value of an asset that we tend to pursue is the equivalent of $10,000 dollars. Under certain circumstances, when we discover an asset that we know could make a significant difference to the owner´s situation, we gladly waive this limit and proceed to assist.
The claim process is a very individualized procedure with many different variables such as the availability of supporting documentation, requirements, and the entities processing our petitions. On average, a claim requires 6-9 months to complete, though the longest claim process we handled took 36 months to conclude!
One of our priorities is complete discretion about our clients and therefore we will not publish testimonials that may identify the writer. We appreciate all testimonials but require that you, the author of the testimonial, provide us with an explicit written permission to publish your endorsement, specifying how you wish to be identified (e.g. full name, city, country or initials and country, etc.)
A great way to avoid losing any asset is to organize and update your asset registry using our free Tessa Asset Tracker.
